Erin Swiatocha joined NOVA Running Club in 2009 and the NOVA board in 2013. She has served in various roles, including President, Vice President, Membership Coordinator, and Social Media Coordinator. During her tenure as President from 2014-2016, the club grew from 27 active members to 130. Membership now includes a wide range of runners, from top post-collegiate runners, elite Masters, recreational, family, and beginning runners.
Erin got her start in running at age 7, and was a multiple time Maryland State Track Champion in high school in Annapolis, Maryland. She later competed in varsity cross country and track at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia, where she served as Cross Country co-captain her senior year.
Erin transitioned to long distance running after college, completing three Boston Marathons from 2013-2015, with a personal best time of 3:08:24 in 2015. During that period, as part of a phase of “serial racing,” Erin completed 79 road races in three years, including 30 in 2013 and 31 in 2014. She brought her half PR to 1:25:23 in 2015 and full marathon PR to 3:08:01 in 2016. Erin is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Level II-certified running coach and has coached several NOVA athletes on an individual basis. Most of her time nowadays is spent running after her two young sons, though she continues to pursue the elusive new PR.
